In this tutorial, we will discuss how to make DC to DC converter circuit. In this project, I used MC34063A DC to DC converter IC. This IC MC34063A used here as a buck converter. This simple circuit you can run a 1W LED from the battery of 12V DC. Are you interested in this circuit? Let’s go start 🙂
≡ An appliance which is a requirement for this project:
PCB board: If you want to make DC to DC converter circuit. First of all, make a PCB design then convert it PCB board.
MC34063A IC: I will discuss this IC in below.
Resistor: For this project, we need 0.15 ohm, 15 ohms, 1K, and 2.7K resistors.
Inductor: We need 220uH Inductor for this project. Capacitor: We need 100uF, 470pF & 47uF capacitor.
Diode: we need Zener diode (MBR2045)
LED: 1W, white color
Battery: We use a 12V DC battery for power supply.
Switch: We use a simple ON/OFF switch.

≡ What is MC34063A?
The MC34063A is a DC to DC converter IC, which is used as a buck converter in the DC converter circuit. It is a standard IC for using a circuit. You can be found on the mobile phone charger circuit.

The MC34063A is a DC to DC Converter IC (Buck converter) which can take input voltage from 3V to 40V Adjustable and it give us output voltage from 1.25V to 40V. Also, this IC maximum current capability is 1.5 A. The Switching Frequency of this IC is 100 kHz, and a precision internal reference is 2%.

≡ Description of DC to DC circuit:
In this circuit, you run a 1W LED from the battery. The MC34063A is a DC to DC Converter IC (Buck converter) which can take input voltage from the power supply and it give us output voltage. The device consists of an internal temperature compensated reference, a comparator, a controlled duty-cycle oscillator with an active current limit circuit, a driver, and a high-current output switch.
Its call a monolithic switching regulator sub-system intended for use as a DC-DC converter. These functions are contained in an 8-pin dual in-line package. Another major advantage of the switching regulator is that it allows increased application flexibility of the output voltage
